Top Albums Of 2024 - Camryn’s Picks

we asked our music-lover friends to share their top albums of the year. here’s camryn’s list in no particular order (except Brat is first):

BRAT - Charli XCX

Charli was my top artist of the year, so naturally, I put BRAT on top. This album created an entirely different universe for people. It unlocked an alternate energy in anybody who gave it an honest listen. Everything about it is genius and a modern-day work of art. Was it an album or a movement? Definitely both.

HIT ME HARD AND SOFT - Billie Eilish

No skips. Crying. Dancing. Sobbing. Smirking. I love an album where you have a new favorite song every other day. Billie speaks to every part of the soul. The range of the album, from “WildFlower” to “L'AMOUR DE MA VIE,” is simply awesome.

WHY LAWD? - NxWorries, Anderson Paak + Knxwledge

If an album could be made of silk, this would be it. Listen to it front to back, and you can’t deny that. It’s a perfect masterpiece, and it makes me feel lucky to be around at the same time that these dudes are putting out music. It has some really great features, including Thundercat, H.E.R., and Snoop Dog.

CHROMAKOPIA - Tyler, The Creator

Another album with no skips. I have no other choice but to lock in while listening. I love that Tyler can do that, and I always genuinely look forward to every piece of music that he shares. This album also feels nostalgic in the ways that it momentarily resembles some of his past work.

TWO STAR & THE DREAM POLICE - Mk.gee

The world needed this album. It’s refreshing and deep in all of the best ways and has versions of sound that my ears have never experienced.

ALLIGATOR BITES NEVER HEAL - Doechii

Doechii has an incredibly unique and powerful energy in both her music and live performances. She has so much range, and nothing will compare to the crispness of her lyrical pronunciation. This album will continue to become one of the most influential rap albums going forward. Definitely the best Tiny Desk Concert as well.

CHARM - Clairo

Ohhhhhh girl. I think this is my favorite piece of work that Miss Claire has released. It feels whimsical, folky, dreamy, and just like it was always supposed to exist. Listening to this album feels like you’re floating the entire way through.

THREE BELLS - Ty Segall

This is an underrated album of 2024. Ty Segall has been putting out music since 2008 and is finally getting more widespread recognition from different audiences. His voice reminds me of Tom York at times, but most importantly, he shreds the shit out of the guitar. I think there's a song for everyone on this album. Some of my favorites are “My Best Friend” and “The Bell.”

WICKED THE MOVIE SOUNDTRACK

AH AHHHH AHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
